Huawei has created a super-slim and stylish smartphone that packs the specs to compete with the more established phone makers. So let’s see how the new fast processor and great camera of the Huawei Ascend P7 do in the real world.
The Ascend P7 is beautiful. It’s made from aluminium and glass, which feels great. And the bottom of the phone curves, giving it a unique look. And it’s really thin, so it’s great for slipping into skinny jeans. And because it’s thin, it’s light, which makes it more comfortable to hold.
The 13MP camera on the back of the Huawei Ascend P7 took some very good photos. But the phone really excels with its front facing camera. It has a massive 8MP sensor that takes outstanding selfies. They’re super sharp and the angle is so wide you can fit loads of your friends in the shot with you.
The P7’s screen is excellent. Watching movies, playing games, reading books and everything else looked fantastic. It’s really sharp, colourful and bright so you won’t miss any details.
Getting stuff done on the P7 was easy. There’s Polaris Office built in for editing Office documents and the phone can handle ZIP files. So if you need to transfer lots of stuff to your phone, you can do it more quickly by compressing it all into one ZIP file.
The battery is a little smaller than some of the P7’s competitors, but it still lasts more than a day and a half between charges. Considering how thin the phone is, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the battery life is.
The Ascend P7 uses Swype as its standard keyboard. It’s a really good keyboard that lets you swipe your finger from letter to letter rather than tapping them. It’s really accurate and makes typing a lot faster.
