The internal memory of your phone is where you store all your photos, apps, music and everything else. It’s measured in gigabytes (GB) and it’s important to know how much you need before you buy a new phone. So how much could you store with 1GB of memory? Check out the table below.

Mobile memory explained

So a phone with a 16GB memory should be able to store around 4,500 songs. But it’s important to remember that some of that storage has already been used for the phone’s software. You can check how much memory is actually available in your phone by going to the storage section of your phone’s settings. And if you find that you don’t have enough memory, you could get a memory card to store your extra stuff.

A lot of phones can take microSD cards, which let you add more memory to your phone when you need it. New phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One (M8), can take microSD cards that pack a massive 128GB of extra storage. These memory cards are really handy if you’ve got a phone that doesn’t have enough storage for you.
