The Natural History Museum in VR

Would you like to get up close and personal with a dinosaur that died out 175 million years ago? Well, thanks to virtual reality, you can. And it’s completely free, as long as you’ve got a Google Cardboard VR headset.

Google has teamed up with the Natural History Museum in London to create some jaw-dropping virtual reality experiences. That includes the opportunity of learning about the big bad Rhomaleosaurus - a fearsome marine reptile predator - as it swims around you.

In addition to the virtual reality adventures, you can also explore the museum’s exhibits as if you were stood right in front of them Thanks to Google's indoor Street View technology you can take a stroll through some of the museum’s famous locations, including Hintze Hall where you’ll meet Dippy the Diplodocus.

In fact, the Natural History Museum has made over 300,000 of its specimens digitally available, through nine virtual exhibitions. To start your museum tour, get your Google Cardboard headset at the ready, and head over to the official website now.

If you've checked out the Natural History Museum in VR already, drop us a comment below and let us know how your visit went. Would you recommend it to others? And which exhibits would you suggest we see?
