Selfies are turning from social craze into big business as smartphone makers have started creating phones with awesome front cameras.
Now there are phones like the new HTC Desire EYE, with a 13MP front camera, and Huawei Ascend P7, with an 8MP front camera, that will take stunning selfies every time.
But there’s more to taking a great photo than just megapixels. So we’ve taken the UK’s two top selfie phones to see which is best.
Both phones have front cameras with voice control, smile detection and a timer to make it easier to hold the phone steady while shooting. And with makeup settings, both phones can airbrush you to make you look your very best.
The phones also have great ways of taking bright photos in the dark. The Huawei has a unique setting that automatically ups the screen brightness to shine a light on dark scenes. HTC, however, has managed to squeeze a dual LED flash in for even better shots.
Huawei has a unique way of fitting your friends in your selfies too. The P7 has a panorama mode so you can fit entire landscapes into your shots. Whereas the Eye has a wide angle lens that makes it easy to fit a group into a single selfie.
But HTC has given the Desire Eye a few unique features of its own. Our favourite is probably Crop-Me-In. You take a selfie and a normal photo at the same time and the phone seamlessly pastes you into the scene in front of you.
Overall, we think you’ll get slightly better selfies from the HTC Desire Eye, but the Huawei Ascend P7 is still one of the best selfie phones out there.
