Introducing the P9’s ‘little’ brother

Following all the excitement that came with Huawei P9 and its dual lens setup, it’s time to meet the P9 lite - a more affordable Android experience, but with a lot of the same great features. Let’s check it out…

Design and display

The P9 lite is fronted by the same 5.2-inch Full HD display as the P9 - which is great news. A lot of smartphones that go through this streamlining process to produce a more affordable version lose screen spec, so it's good news this device remains at Full HD.

The quality of the build is pretty much the same too. There's still a fingerprint scanner on the back, while the rear metal design on the P9 has been replaced with a strong plastic finish on the Lite.

Camera

Leica’s two lenses didn’t make it onto the P9 lite, but it's still strong on the photography front. The 13MP camera comes jam-packed with Huawei’s big digital photo apps. And it’s also got a massive f/2.0 aperture – which is larger than the P9’s.

A large aperture means the lens can open wider, letting in more light - which means brighter, more accurate photos. And if that’s not enough, there’s also an 8MP front-facing lens with its own dedicated LED flash for top quality selfies.

Performance

So far, compared to the P9, this ‘stripped down’ version loses a lense, and has a plastic back. So surely it’s going to reveal its true colours when it comes to raw power, right?

Guess again. It has two powerful quad-core processors (2.0GHz and 1.7GHz), making sure everything runs smoothly. It also has a massive 3,000mAh battery – the same as the P9 – keeping you powered up throughout the day.
