The P8 lite returns – refreshed for 2017

Huawei is stepping up its game once again, this time bringing a revised version of the P8 lite to market, new for 2017. But don’t be fooled by the name – this is essentially a brand new smartphone…

Design and display

The P8 lite (2017) features a large 5.2-inch Full HD display, fronting a smooth, glass build with rounded corners. On the back there’s a circular fingerprint scanner, specifically placed to let you naturally unlock the phone with your index finger while holding it in one hand.

On the base of the smartphone there are two speakers, either side of the microUSB charging port. The miniature grills may be small in size, but they can pump audio out at an impressive volume.

Camera

The 12MP camera on the P8 lite (2017) is loaded with photography apps to make sure you can always get the perfect shot. It also has a wide f/2.0 aperture, letting in lots of light to enhance colour, and comes with autofocus technology.

Round the front of the phone, there’s a secondary 8MP lens for all your selfies. It has the same aperture as the rear-facing main camera, and also lets you film video in Full HD. You can use apps like Skype, or Google’s own video-chatting app, Duo, to talk face-to-face with friends and family the world over, and your image quality will be first class.

Power and performance

Under the hood there’s a powerful octa-core processor, paired with 3GB RAM. Together they’ll make sure you’re never slowed down while using all your favourite apps, even if you’re jumping between Netflix and sending WhatsApp messages.

Battery-wise the Huawei boasts an ample 3,000mAh cell, which will be more than capable of storing enough power to see you all the way through the day and into the night.
