BlackBerry's back

BlackBerry may have just released its KEYone device in black, exclusively available from Carphone Warehouse, but that isn’t slowing down the iconic manufacturer. The latest device is called BlackBerry Motion, and this is what it can do…

Design and display

The BlackBerry Motion is a great-looking device, featuring a large 5.5-inch Full HD display, sturdy brushed metal edges, and a soft-touch patterned back. And underneath the screen is a home button emblazoned with the BB logo, which doubles up a fingerprint scanner.

BlackBerry is pretty good at hiding its sensors in places you wouldn’t immediately notice them, with the scanner being built into the spacebar on last year’s KEYone. It’s very reactive, and lets you unlock the phone by simply placing your thumb or finger on the scanner, without having to press any other buttons.

Camera

Once upon a time, BlackBerry was built for the businessman. It was much more spreadsheet than selfie, but that’s all changed now. And the proof’s in the 12MP large pixel camera. There are loads of shooting options, from panorama to slow-mo video, and 19 pre-installed filters to add a creative edge to your photos.

There’s a pretty great front-facing lens, too. At 8MP, you’re guaranteed sharp and accurate photos, and if you’re big on video chats, you’ll be able to record yourself in 1080p, Full HD resolution.

Under the hood

Inside the BlackBerry Motion there’s a 2.0GHz octa-core processor and a generous 4GB RAM to make sure you’re never slowed down when enjoying all your favourite apps and games. But the headline is Motion’s massive 4,000mAh battery – the biggest BlackBerry has ever put inside one of its smartphones.

The large capacity means you’ll have no problem with all-day use, but if you do need a speedy top up, the USB Type-C charger lets you inject power quickly – perfect if you’re in a rush.

If you like the sound of the BlackBerry Motion, follow the link to be taken through to Carphone Warehouse’s website.
