All the new stuff we could be seeing at Europe’s biggest tech conference
Today the doors open to Berlin’s IFA 2016, Europe’s largest tech conference. If you want to find out what we’re expecting to have on the shelves this Christmas, IFA’s the place to see it first.
We’ll be on the ground at Messe Berlin for the entirety of the conference, so make sure you keep it with The Lowdown for all the latest information.
Asus has been fairly public with its ‘Zenvolution’, which if rumours are to be believed, could point towards a new range of wearables.
HTC recently launched a line of smartphones, most notably the high-powered HTC 10, so it’s unlikely we’ll see anything in the mobile sphere from the Taiwanese company this year. However, with VR gaining more popularity every single day, we’ve got our finger crossed for for some HTC Vive news.
Huawei has a press event on 1 September at 09:30 GMT, so there’s definitely something in the pipeline. Chairman, Richard Yu, will be on stage to introduce us to the new product, which will allegedly - according to the official Twitter account - “defy expectations”.
Tech giant, Samsung, is hosting a press event on 31 August. The invite doesn’t leave much to the imagination with the clear shape of a watch face displayed front and centre. With the Galaxy Note7 already on its way, we’re looking towards a replacement for the Gear S2 from Samsung at IFA.
Sony moves quicker than most other mobile manufacturers, with six-month flagship releases instead of the more established 12-month cycle. And as we’ve recently seen the Xperia X, it could be time for something new – especially seeing as the Japanese company is hosting its own press event on 1 September at 13:00GMT.
