Last night, at CES 2016, Samsung gave us an update on its plans for the Gear S2 smartwatch, and it looks like 2016 will be a big year for the wearable.
Samsung Pay coming to your wrist
When Samsung launched the Gear S2 it promised to bring Samsung Pay to the smartwatch soon. Last night, the Korean tech giant confirmed it was still on track to bring the advanced payment tech to your wrist this year. What’s more, it also confirmed Samsung Pay is coming to the UK this year.
The great thing with Samsung Pay is that it works with old card machines that only have magnetic strip readers. All the other mobile payment systems work with NFC so can only be used in shops that have upgraded their card machines.
Samsung Gear S2 to work with your iPhone
The design and functionality of the Samsung Gear S2 has received universal praise, even from loyal Apple fans. To capitalise on this popularity, Samsung has announced the smartwatch will soon work with iOS.
Premium metals for the Gear S2
There’s no doubting the stainless steel Gear S2 is a premium smartwatch, but if you want one that looks even more luxurious you’ll soon be able to choose one that's plated in either 18 carat rose gold or platinum. The new metals should match the ever-popular gold-coloured smartphones that have become the must have gadget in the last couple of years.
What else from Samsung
Away from its smartwatch, Samsung also unveiled a new version of its Galaxy TabPro S running Windows 10. The new tablet is an ultra-thin 10-inch tablet that can be slotted into a keyboard dock, much like the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
There’s also a new line of high-end TVs from Samsung. They use the latest HDR technology for better picture quality than ever before, and have all the usual smart features so you can get apps like Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
