Our favourite Chinese smartphones

Not too long ago, pretty much all smartphones from China were cheap and obviously inspired by the likes of Apple and Samsung. Now, however, there are loads of innovative phones that don’t break the bank coming from the country. Here are a few of our favourites.

Nexus 6PNexus 6P

While the Nexus line of smartphones are often considered ‘Google phones’, the current Nexus 6P is actually designed and built by Chinese tech giant, Huawei.

We really like the phone’s all-metal design, its surprisingly powerful 12.3MP camera and the pure Android experience. Because Google worked closely with Huawei to create the 6P, the software and hardware work great together.

Huawei Mate SHuawei Mate S

As one team at Huawei worked to create the Nexus 6P, another created another big-screened phone that was launched under the company’s own name.

The Huawei Mate S has a lot of what makes the Nexus great - like a metal body, sharp screen and bags of power - but it has Huawei’s software on top of Android. This extra layer of software creates a unique, simplified user experience and adds some handy features (swiping over the fingerprint scanner in different ways launches apps, for example).

ZTE Blade V6ZTE Blade V6

When it comes to truly great value, the ZTE Blade V6 is one of the best. To start with, the phone looks elegant thanks to a super-slim metallic body and edge-to-edge screen. You can also take great photos with a powerful 13MP rear camera and 5MP wide-angle selfie camera. Finally, its 4G connectivity and quad core processor make it fast enough for all your entertainment.

Lenovo Vibe X3Lenovo Vibe X3

Lenovo is the world’s biggest PC maker and sits comfortably in the top five smartphone manufacturers too. So it’s no wonder the new Lenovo Vibe X3 is so good.

There’s loads to love, like a huge battery, fast-focusing 21MP camera and Dolby Atmos audio. That last bit is interesting because Dolby Atmos is the new sound technology being rolled out to the world’s best cinemas. On the phone, it creates virtual 3D sound to make your movies and games sound unbelievably good.
