Samsung's 2017 version of the affordable Galaxy J3 and J5 smartphones are in. These mid-range handsets have built a solid reputation for punching above their weight, while offering a near-premium experience, so let’s see what’s new this time around...
Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017)
The stylish full-metal Galaxy J5 (2017) boasts a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen – that’s an impressive display for a mid-range phone, and Samsung describes it as offering a “fantastic viewing experience.”
The 13MP rear-camera should perform well in low light conditions with its f/1.7 aperture, and the front-facing camera also weighs in at 13MP. We’re looking forward to seeing its selfie-taking capabilities.

Under the hood, there’s now a speedy octa-core 1.6GHz processor chipset paired with 2GB RAM. That’s a serious upgrade over the 2016 J5’s quad-core 1.2GHz processor, so we’re expecting this 2017 version to offer a speedier and smoother all-round performance.
The J5 (2017) also comes with a sizeable 3,000mAh battery and 16GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB with a memory card.
