Murphy bot answers “what if…” questions

Microsoft is stretching its muscles in the chatbot universe at the moment, with the recent release (and quick decommission) of controversial chatbot, Tay bot. But there’s a new kid on the block now, and its name is Project Murphy.

Murphy is nothing more than a bit of fun, but a good example of how a robot can trawl the internet for information and return it to you in seconds.

What does it do?

Murphy invites you to ask, “what if…” questions on Skype, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Kik and Slack. It’ll then return an image that attempts to visualise whatever hypothetical question you've asked. For example, we asked Murphy: “What if Snoop Dogg was the Mona Lisa?” And it replied with this terrifying digital painting:

Here are a couple of other highlights…

What if Hugh Laurie was the Queen?

And, what if Gordon Brown was Mr Bean?

Finally, what if Mick Jagger was Margaret Thatcher?

Murphy is still learning, and asks you to send an emoji in reply to gauge how well it’s doing. You can also reply “More” if you want another computer-generated image of two things mashed together.

Have you tried out Murphy yet? Post your photos and comments below.
