LG G3: Everything you need to know

LG has finally unveiled the LG G3 and it’s amazing. From the super-sharp Quad HD screen through to the revolutionary laser autofocus, this flagship smartphone is breaking new ground. Here’s everything you need to know about the new king of Android phones, the LG G3.

MINIMALIST, ELEGANT DESIGN

The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up your new LG G3 is how light it is. It’s so lightweight that we found it hard to believe that there’s actually a battery inside it. You’ll also realise how compact it is. The front of the phone is almost all screen. That gives it a stylish minimalist look and means the G3 is narrower and shorter than you’d expect.

That makes it easy to hold, as does the ‘floating arc design’. This is the beautiful curved back that’s carefully shaped to fit nicely in your hand. And to top off this excellent style, there’s a brushed aluminium finish that gives it a really modern look.

THE UK’S SHARPEST PHONE SCREEN

The 5.5″ screen that dominates the minimalist design is pretty special. It’s nearly twice as sharp as a Full HD screen thanks to its Quad HD resolution. That means your movies, photos and games look stunning on the LG G3. It’s a really bright screen too, with spectacular colours that make everything look really lifelike. It’s simply the best screen you can get on a smartphone.

UNIQUE, INNOVATIVE AND POWERFUL CAMERA

If you like to snap photos wherever you go, you’ll love the LG G3. It has a 13MP camera on the back that’s crammed with innovative technology. To start with you get OIS+ (optical image stabilisation plus) to keep the camera steady even if you’ve got shaky hands. Then there’s the unique laser autofocus. This lets the LG G3 focus in under three tenths of a second. That’s faster than you can blink! All of that means you’ll capture every moment in incredible quality.

The camera’s also perfect for shooting video. You can record HD movies in slow motion or make full use of the incredible screen and record in Quad HD quality. And the OIS+ will keep your videos looking smooth so you can record unbelievable home movies.

A KEYBOARD DESIGNED FOR COMFORT AND SIMPLICITY

The LG G3 has more than just first class hardware. LG has redesigned its software for simplicity. You can change the size of the keyboard to suit your fingers so you can type more accurately. And predictive text has been redesigned so you don’t have to move your fingers so much. Now you just swipe up on the keyboard to push the predicted word up into the text box. Plus editing’s been made easier. You can tap and hold the space bar and slide your finger around to move a curser through the text, making it really easy to go back and change words.

GET THE INFORMATION YOU NEED WITHOUT ASKING FOR IT

Another great new bit of software is Smart Notice. It lets the LG G3 automatically give you hints, tips and information based on the time, where you are and how you use your phone. So it might tell you to pick up an umbrella if it knows you’re about to leave for work and rain’s forecast. Or it could advise you to delete apps that you haven’t used in a while to free up memory. It’s a fantastic, automatic personal assistant.

ADVANCED SECURITY FOR COMPLETE PEACE OF MIND

LG has also put a lot of thought into your security. So the LG G3 comes with Knock Code, an innovative way to lock your screen that has more possible codes than a PIN and doesn’t leave a visible mark on the screen like pattern locks do. There’s also Content Lock, which lets you secure individual files and photos on your phone so you can lend it to someone to make a call and know that your stuff is safe. And finally there’s a kill switch that lets you make the phone unusable if it’s stolen, totally securing everything that’s on your LG G3.
