Google launches virtual reality Christmas story

A Google & Aardman Animations Christmas collaboration

Here's something that will definitely get you in the Christmas mood. The studio responsible for the Wallace & Gromit franchise has collaborated with Google to create a short story called Special Delivery.

The amazing 360-degree animation follows a curious caretaker through a snow-capped apartment complex as he attempts to find the illusive Santa Claus with hilarious consequences.

More than one way to enjoy

The yuletide story, hosted on YouTube, can be enjoyed in 360-degrees. And if you’re watching on your smartphone, you can tilt it to pan left and right, up and down, and follow at your own pace.

Google recommends that you watch it a few times over because there are many different versions. As you browse around the courtyard you can potentially discover ten subplots and three different endings.

Special Delivery is the latest in the Spotlight Stories series, available to enjoy on Android, iOS and desktop. As it’s a Google creation, it's going to be better on Android, but if you use an iPhone, you'll still be able to enjoy the immersive experience.

Desktop users can still take part by navigating using the on-screen arrows, and if you’re a Google Cardboard owner, that will work even better. Just be sure to tap the Cardboard icon on your smartphone. Check Special Delivery out below.
