Getting closer to the new edge
We’ve got our hands on the brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, but how does it compare to the original? This is everything you need to know.
Of course, the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s a bit bigger. The display on the edge+ measures 5.7-inches keeps the Quad HD resolution. The good news here is that you still get the same great colours and contrast, but on a slightly larger scale.
The new model also features a bigger battery, which will give up to 10% more life between trips to the plug socket. And, with fast-charging on board, the 3,000mAh battery will be juiced up in no time.
Both cameras, the main 16MP one and the 5MP front-facer, haven’t seen any hardware improvements - but there wasn’t really much to improve here, in all honesty. The S6 has one of the best smartphone cameras we’ve ever encountered.
There’s been a bit of software tweaking going on, however, with the introduction of something Samsung calls VDIS. This helps to stabilise your video recordings, so they’ll look smoother than ever. You can also broadcast directly to YouTube now, allowing you to share your favourite moments quicker than ever.
The new edge’s edge has some innovative features that let you stay in touch with your favourite people more easily. Previously, a quick swipe of the edge would let you view a handful of your top mates. But now, with Apps Edge, you can message contacts, call, and share emoticons without having to launch any additional apps.
