Movie

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Prepare to be blown away all over again. Because Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now available to download.

Don’t worry. We’re not going to give away any plot spoilers here, although we’re guessing that one or two of you might have already caught this at the cinema?

The good news is that re-watching this brilliant movie lets you enjoy the things you might have missed the first time round – like all the fantastic background characters, Han Solo’s snide-but-funny comments, Daniel Craig's cheeky cameo and absolutely everything BB8 does.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is ready to download on iTunes and Google Play. It’ll help keep us happy until the amazing looking Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits the cinemas this December.

eBook

The Blade Artist by Irvine Welsh

He’s back.

No, we’re not talking about legendary Trainspotting author Irivine Welsh. We’re talking about his most famous and ferocious character. Say hello again to Francis “Franco” Begbie, former resident of Leith, Edinburgh.

But Franco has changed. Big time. He now goes by the name of Jim Francis, lives in California with a beautiful wife, and is a successful painter and sculptor (surely a nod to real-life Glasgow criminal turned sculptor Jimmy Boyle).

This is an Irvine Welsh book though, so things start to go bad, very quickly. When Franco returns to Edinburgh for the funeral of his murdered son, all his old friends expect him to take brutal revenge. But can he resist, and escape his violent past? To find out, download The Blade Artist from your favourite eBook store.

Music

Everything You’ve Come To Expect by The Last Shadow Puppets

Side project or supergroup? We’re not too sure, but it’s great to see The Last Shadow Puppets back with a new album. Once again, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has teamed up with Miles Kane, and the results are spectacular.

The 60s pop influence from the first album can still be heard, but it’s a much more mature, soulful, and dare we say it – sexy sounding affair. For us, the standout tracks are the rocky opener ‘Aviation’, and the soaring Roy Orbison-tinged ‘Sweet Dreams, TN’.

Expect this to be a big summer album. These tracks sound tailor-made for singing along to while perched on a mate’s shoulders in the middle of a packed festival.

Everything You’ve Come To Expect by The Last Shadow Puppets is available on iTunes and Google Play. It’s also on Spotify.

Game

Slither.io

If you’re a fan of the retro mobile game Snake, then you’ll love Slither.io.

The rules are pretty similar - you move around eating stuff to help you grow. Only now, instead of worrying about eating your own tale, you need to worry about bumping into other snakes. And these other snakes are people, playing online, just like you.

If you’re skilful enough to get another snake to run into you, you can then gobble up their remains. But bear in mind, other snakes may be thinking about doing the same thing to you.

So what kind of tactics will you use?

Will you try and avoid other snakes and concentrate on eating and growing out of harm's way?

Or will you go on the attack and confront other snakes at every opportunity? If you decide on this course of action and work out how to defeat others, please let us know. We keep getting easily outmanoeuvred and dying.

Slither.io is free to download on iOS and Android.
