Which new Huawei P20 is for you?

There’s a new family in the neighbourhood. And by ‘family’ we mean ‘trio of spec-tacular Huawei smartphones’. And by ‘in the neighbourhood’ we mean ‘available at Carphone Warehouse’.

The Huawei P20, P20 Lite and P20 Pro are finally here, with each one boasting its own list of incredible specs. So, which new Huawei P20 is the one for you? Let’s find out, shall we?

Design

All three phones have a very similar design, and all boast an immense FullView display on the front. They also all come with a fingerprint sensor. The only difference is it’s on the front for the P20 and P20 Pro and on the back for the P20 Lite.

Like any family, the sizes vary. The P20 and P20 Lite rack up the same display size, at around 5.8-inches, while the Pro fronts a bigger 6.1-inch screen.

One thing that ties these phones together is that they all look the business, with a premium glass and metal look. And the P20 and P20 Lite even come in a stunning blue, exclusive to Carphone Warehouse.

Camera

This is where the new Huawei phones really come into their own. Like its predecessor, the Huawei P20 features a dual LEICA camera so you can take stellar snaps even in the most poorly lit settings.

The P20 Pro also has a pairing with LEICA but ups the ante by being the first phone ever to have a triple-lens camera. Capture snaps with more light and get even closer to the action – three times closer to be exact.

Both the P20 and P20 Pro also record in super slow motion. So you can slow all of those moments right down in impeccable quality.

Until now, Huawei Lites have always had a single camera – but you’ll now get a dual-lens with the new P20 Lite. Two sensors with 16+2MP and f/2.2 apertures work together to master crystal clear photos.

Hardware

Under the hood, the P20 and P20 Pro run on the Kirin 970 – meaning both phones are powered by AI. The result? Bucketloads of power. And even though P20 Lite’s chipset isn’t quite at the same level, Kirin 659 guarantees you a speedy, super-smooth performance.

And if you’re after a sizable battery life, the P20 Pro won’t disappoint. The 4,000mAh battery is one of the best performers on the market. That’s not to say that the battery on the P20 and P20 Lite are to be overlooked. With the P20’s battery weighing in at 3,320mAh and the Lite’s being a cool 3,000mAh – you can expect a whole day of use, uninterrupted.

The Verdict

The new Huawei P20 family offers something for everyone. If you’re big on photography and bigger phones in general, you’ll find the P20 Pro a revolutionary smartphone. Looking for an all-rounder? The P20 is a thing of both power and beauty. And the cost-conscious will love the P20 Lite – offering all the features of a flagship, in a compact body, at an affordable price.
