Are you the kind of iPhone owner that upgrades to the latest model as soon as it’s out? Then you haven’t got too long to wait. September is the time of year when Apple officially announces its new iPhone line-up.
If you’re curious about what Apple is set to reveal on the big launch day, here’s a roundup of what the other tech publications are expecting to happen.
Three iPhones will be launched
“In 2018, Apple is planning to continue on with its three iPhone line-up, introducing three new iPhones. The first is said to be a second-generation version of the iPhone X, while the second can be thought of as an ‘iPhone X Plus’. Along with these two OLED iPhones, Apple is planning to introduce a new, more affordable iPhone with an LCD display.” Macrumours
Nobody knows what they’ll be called yet
“What will Apple call its iPhone 2018 models? Well, isn't that the million dollar question? The answer to which only a very select few in the Cupertino company probably know.”Pocket-lint
It’s going to be a colourful range
“Ming-Chi Kuo released a report today that ups his estimates for the new 2018 iPhone sales, as well as detailing a few changes to expect. Perhaps, most excitingly, Kuo says the new iPhones will come in a plethora of colours. The 6.5-inch phone will be offered in black, white and a (new!) gold. The entry-level 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will apparently debut in grey, white, blue, red and orange.”9to5Mac
Each phone will have a different display size
“Here's what's likely to launch this September:
5.8in OLED: This would be the iPhone 11 or XI
6.5in OLED: The larger iPhone 11 Plus or X Plus
6.1in LCD: A cheaper version, but still with the notch design.”Techadvisor
Forbes thinks that one of the phones will have a triple lens camera
“The headline news is the schematics show iPhone X Plus will introduce a triple rear camera. Huawei beat Apple to market with this technology in the excellent P20 Pro, (and) the iPhone X Plus will be the handset to bring it to the masses.” Forbes
All three phones will feature Face ID
“… Apple is going all-in with its 3D face scanning hardware, implying that the whole range will ditch fingerprint scanners from now on and rely on the new TrueDepth facial recognition tech instead.”Knowyourmoible.com
A USB Type-C fast charger will be included in the box
“The accessory is expected to come in the box along with the 2018 iPhone units to be launched later this year. It will allow iPhone owners to refresh the battery inside their handsets faster than usual, and do so without requiring the owner of a new iPhone to make any additional purchase.”Phonearena
The launch date is the second week of September
“Apple has a long and consistent history of iPhone releases, which makes predicting the launch date for a new iPhone a straightforward task. With that in mind, we expect Apple to announce the iPhones on September 11 or September 12.”Trusted Reviews
We shouldn’t expect to seen an iPhone SE 2
“It's possible that we won't see a successor to the iPhone SE anytime soon. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a pretty solid track record, suggested in a research note that Apple doesn't have the capacity to release one right now.” Tom’s Guide
