Our favourite new social media apps

The average person spends around one hour and twenty minutes a day on social media sites. But with countless new social media apps being launched every single day, it’s hard to spot the real game changers. So to help you out, we’ve rounded up the very best new social media apps on the market this year.

The Roll

iOS

If your camera roll’s a bit of a mess, scouring through to find your best photos to post can be hard work. The Roll will analyse and rate your photos, helping you size up the best from the rest. It also adds key words to your library so you can locate pictures in a flash.

Yubl

Android, iOS

Hailed the ‘immediate’ social network, Yubl wants you to talk to friends in real time using an array of features, buttons and stickers.

Its five buttons: vote, link, whereabouts, pinpoint and custom count, allow you to stay connected with your mates in all kinds of inventive ways.

Wanelo

Android, iOS

The app designed for social shoppers, Wanelo features millions of products from big brands all the way through to independent sellers. Users can see what their friends have liked, in addition to creating their own shopping wishlists.

Tuurnt

iOS

Tuurnt turns regular visual posts into social media events, encouraging both contact users, as well as public users, to join the thread.

You’ll have 24 hours to respond, after which you’ll be presented with a fun, and often hilarious, stream of pictures, spliced with memes.

Flipboard

Android

This news apps lets you update the latest articles to 12 social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. It’s even designed to filter the news you’re interested in, providing you with your own personal magazine.

REX

iOS

REX makes finding and sharing your favourite stuff a doddle. The recommendation platform gives you an insight into what your friends have been watching, listening to and reading, as well as places they’ve visited.
