iPhone X's five gestures you need to know

It's time to get over the Home button

iPhone X is packed with exciting new features, but one thing's missing. The Home button. Don’t grieve it just yet, if anything its removal makes the future of iPhone even more exciting. Say goodbye to button presses, and hello to gestures – a new way to use your iPhone.

Take me home

The trusty home button is no more. Apple’s decision to remove it is a brave one, but it’s a move that makes the device feel more modern and intuitive. For example, you no longer press a button to return to the home screen. On iPhone X you can just swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Multitasking made easy

Switching between apps on iPhone X is also done with a swipe. Just swipe up slightly, and then pause to see which apps you’ve got open. Your open apps will be laid out like a stack of cards. Just scroll through them to find the one you want.

Browse widgets faster

Widgets on iPhone are great. Use them to quickly glance weather and news updates, the latest sports scores, and more. Browse them faster with just a right swipe from the home screen, or the lock screen.

View notifications and reminders in an instant

To see your notifications, just swipe down from the middle of the screen. Here you’ll see your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter alerts, reminders, important calendar entries, and more.

You’ll also find the search bar, which lets you find anything on your phone. Just start typing and watch as your iPhone X locates things in real time.

Do everything from the Control Center

The Control Center in iOS 11 lets you do almost anything using your iPhone X. To access it, just swipe down from the top right of the screen. Once you’re in the Control Center, you can play your music, take a picture, and customise which functions you want to be easily accessible.
