Five reasons to buy Pixel

The fantastic Pixel by Google may have launched last year, but it’s still one of the hottest phones on the market. Now they’ve launched their limited edition ‘Really Blue’ colour, here are our top reasons you should make Pixel your next upgrade.

It has the world’s best smartphone camera

It’s a grand claim indeed, but Google point to their score from DxOMark, the trusted industry standard for camera and lens image quality. They got 89, which is one point higher than the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and a massive three points higher than iPhone 7.

Techy facts aside, the Pixel does take a great photo. It does really well in low light situations, like in a bar or when the sun goes down. Plus the front facing camera takes a mean selfie.

Storage is unlimited

Pixel by Google comes in both 32GB and 128GB variants, but unusually for an Android device, there’s no expandable SD card storage. That’s because Pixel offers unlimited storage for photos and videos on Google Photos.

When you’re in Google Photos, you can easily select the free up space option, which will transfer high quality files to Google’s servers, leaving you lower resolution versions to view offline.

It’s the first phone with Google Assistant

While you’ve been able to say "OK Google" to access your Android phones personal assistant for quite a while now, the new version of the personal assistant on Pixel goes a step further. It will pop up with interesting information based on your location or things you’re reading on screen. And you can also now have a conversation. Ask Google to find great Thai restaurant near you, and when it responds, ask it to make a booking with a service like Open Table.

It’s super fast

Everything about Pixel is super speedy – from the amount of time it takes to load a web page, to the speed an app loads up. That’s partially because of the 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB RAM. But it’s also down to the fact that Pixel has the purest version of Android Nougat, so it isn’t slowed down by any unnecessary bloatware.

The battery lasts for ages… and charges fast

You’ll easily get a good day of battery life out of your Pixel phone. The smaller Pixel offers a 2,770mAh battery while the larger Pixel XL has a beefier 3,450mAh battery. Plus with its fast charger, you’ll get up to 7 hours usage from just a 15 minute charge.
