Best old school games for your mobile

Dial it back with your smartphone

The technology industry spends a lot of time looking forward - thinking about the next big thing. What it doesn’t commit enough time to, is looking back at what we’ve already achieved. What about those classic games that helped shape the mind-boggling VR experiences we use today?

Let’s set the record straight. This is how to enjoy a trip down memory lane with arcade nostalgia on your smartphone.

Sonic the Hedgehog

If you owned a Sega Mega Drive back in the day, you’ll have no doubt taken Sonic and friends through Emerald Hill in pursuit of evil Dr Eggman. Now it’s available to play on your smartphone, in all its retro glory.

Download for Android on the Google Play Store, and for iOS from the App Store.

Pac-Man

You can probably still hear the iconic squeak of Pac-Mac as he eats those pellets and chases those ghosts. To relive the nostalgia, head over to the Google Play Store or the App Store, and wile away the hours with this classic arcade game.

Tetris

At one point, many moons ago, Tetris was the pinnacle of arcade gaming. Do you remember the fear of your puzzle filling up the screen as your hopeless wait for a long block to clear some lines? If so, we can happily report it’s back and optimised for mobile.

Head to the Google Play Store to download for your Android smartphone, and there’s a version for iOS available too.

Tomb Raider, c. 1996

Tomb Raider was one of the first big 3D platformer games, which not only saw us aide Lara in uncovering ancient treasures, but also locking the poor butler in the freezer. To relive the adventure (and the torture), head over to the Google Play Store for Android, or App Store for iOS.
